Small Cliff Planter

This planter is fashioned out of vitrified wheel thrown english porcelain. Decorated with clay collected from Calvert Cliffs, on the Chesapeake Bay. The foraged pigment is ground by hand and formed into a thin clay substance called slip. The pattern is achieved with the sgraffito or carved slip technique revealing the bright white clay body underneath. Inside is glazed with a matte sandy glaze  and outside is coated with high fire clear. The pot is designed with a small drain hole. Piece is signed and dated.
